Quizzes on section 1-5 were handed back. Students reflected, recorded and graphed their results. Calculators were assigned and calculator contract must be signed by parent/guardian and returned by Friday, October 7. Students presented application problems from homework. Looking ahead section 1-7 is the section for chapter 1. Tentative date for test is Monday, October 10, 2011. A good way to review would be to revisit the videos on flippedhighschool.com.

Students sell assessed themselves on the learning targets for the pre-algebra unit in preparation for the test. Student worked in groups on the learning targets. Class closed with students giving two targets that they felt they understand and two targets that they need to practice.

Anything not completed in class must be done as homework to be graded on Monday. Each is counted as a separate assignment.

Section 1-4 , Measuring Segments, was presented. Problems included finding the length of segments and applying the segment addition postulate to solve problems.

Completion on section 1-4. Demonstration of how the distance formula is derived by applying the Pythagorean Theorem. Reminder there will be a quiz on Friday on sections 1-1 thru 1-4. Looking at videos from the Geometry section on the flipped classroom website would be a great way to review.

Section 1-7, Distributive Property, was presented. Students applied the distributive property to simplify algebraic expressions which included combining like terms.

Students completed a table of mathematical properties which is sections 1-6 and 1-8 in the text. Quiz Friday in graphs, PEMDAS, integers, distributive property, simplifying algebraic expressions and properties. A good way to prepare would be to go to the flipped classroom website and rewatch thoses videos pertaining to the topics.

Tests count twice as much as a quiz.
Each student is required to keep a notebook which counts as one quiz grade.

Tutoring is available 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. , Tuesday -Friday in the library.
After school tutoring is available on Tuesday and Thursday, 2:40p.m. - 3:40 p.m
